There's a small stream near where I live in North London, and its possible to walk along its banks. After a long dry spell, when the stream had been little more than a gentle trickle, a sudden rainy day had filled the stream up to its banks. This sight inspired me to paint this picture.
Painted on a gesso'd board, entirely using palette knives, in an impasto technique. Pops of colour add depth and vibrancy, with plenty of stand oil and damar to give a lustrous gloss.
